Philly Crew Down for 29 Carjackings, 2 Murders

⏱ 3 min read

PHILADELPHIA – A five-man crew is facing serious time after a federal jury found them guilty of a brazen wave of carjackings that left one Marine dead and another potential witness silenced, authorities said today.

The group, busted in July 2024, allegedly didn’t just steal vehicles; they systematically terrorized drivers across Philadelphia, racking up at least 29 carjacking attempts and completions. The cars were then fenced, with many shipped overseas to Africa.

Mikal McCracken, 24, aka “Kal,” took the hardest hit, convicted of carjacking resulting in death for the brutal killing of a former Marine in February 2022. The jury also found him guilty of plotting to murder a witness who could have tied him to the crimes. On top of that, McCracken faces charges for an additional 20 armed carjackings, five of which involved gunshots – including one victim robbed and shot twice, a month apart.

Amin Muse, 24, aka “Miyn” and “Miyns,” shares the blame for the Marine’s murder and the witness conspiracy. He’s also convicted on charges relating to eight additional armed carjackings, one of which involved gunfire.

Aleem Abdul-Hakim, 23, aka “Fatleem,” was implicated in the Marine’s death and five more armed robberies. Dean Fosque, 28, aka “30,” faces charges for nine carjackings, including three shootings where one victim was struck. Kavon Coleman, 23, aka “Ski,” is convicted for his role in four armed carjacking attempts and completions.

Prosecutors laid out a case showing a cold-blooded operation where victims were subjected to extreme violence for the sake of a quick profit. Sentencing dates have not yet been announced, but these men are likely looking at decades behind bars.
