Jose Walter Nieto-Castellanos, a 31-year-old Honduran illegal alien, was involved in a violent confrontation with a US Border Patrol Agent in Gretna, Louisiana, on October 14, 2025. Nieto-Castellanos attempted to evade law enforcement during a traffic stop and physically resisted officers, prompting the agent to take action. The incident occurred during an immigration-related enforcement operation, and Nieto-Castellanos was ultimately stopped and restrained. On March 12, 2026, he was sentenced for his crimes.

Nieto-Castellanos pleaded guilty to Assault Against Law Enforcement, a federal offense, and was sentenced to time served – a total of four and a half months imprisonment. He will also serve one year of supervised release and pay a $100 special assessment fee. Following his sentencing, Nieto-Castellanos was transferred to the custody of US Customs and Border Protection and will be deported to Honduras.

The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, cartels, and transnational criminal organizations. The operation seeks to protect communities from violent crime and streamline efforts to achieve these goals.
