Arlington Man Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography Charges
A 50-year-old Arlington man, James Jeffrey Schroeder, a former teacher’s assistant at Sharyland High School in Mission, Texas, has pleaded guilty to charges of receiving and downloading child pornography.
According to a statement of facts filed with the plea agreement, Schroeder received and downloaded child pornography from the internet and from a family member from approximately 1997 to August 2015.
A forensic review of Schroeder’s electronic media revealed over 83,000 images and 400 videos of child pornography. Many of the images and videos were sadistic or masochistic in nature and depicted scenes of violence.
Schroeder faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison when sentenced on February 2, 2017. The maximum statutory sentence is prescribed by Congress and is provided here for informational purposes, as the sentencing of the defendant will be determined by the court based on the advisory Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
The case was announced by Dana J. Boente, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Clark E. Settles, Special Agent in Charge of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Washington.
