Ashley Noel Steele Gets 5 Years for Meth Conspiracy

Ashley Noel Steele, 30, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison for her role in a major methamphetamine conspiracy, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma confirmed. The conviction, handed down by U.S. District Judge Ronald A. White in Muskogee, marks the latest conviction in the sprawling ‘Home of the Brave’ investigation.

Steele pleaded guilty to one count of drug conspiracy under Title 21, United States Code, Sections 846, 841(a)(1), and 841(b)(1)(B). The charges stem from her alleged involvement in a December 12, 2015, agreement to possess with intent to distribute and distribute 50 grams or more of a mixture containing detectable methamphetamine—a Schedule II controlled substance—within the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

The case was part of a joint federal and state crackdown coordinated by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), a high-level initiative targeting drug networks with multi-agency muscle. The ‘Home of the Brave’ probe pulled in law enforcement from across eastern Oklahoma, including the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, multiple police departments, sheriff’s offices, and federal agencies.

Investigators say the conspiracy involved both known and unknown co-conspirators operating across tribal and municipal jurisdictions. Agencies involved included the McAlester, Tahlequah, and Muskogee Police Departments; Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department; Seminole Nation Lighthorse Police; Bureau of Indian Affairs; and DEA offices in McAlester and Tulsa, among others.

Steele will serve five years of supervised release following her 60-month prison term, which carries no possibility of parole. She remains in custody pending transfer to a designated federal correctional facility. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Shannon Henson, who emphasized the government’s ongoing push to dismantle regional drug trafficking operations.

This sentencing underscores the federal government’s aggressive stance on methamphetamine distribution networks in rural and tribal areas. The Eastern District of Oklahoma continues to be a hotspot for OCDETF operations, with investigations like ‘Home of the Brave’ aiming to dismantle organized drug cells operating across jurisdictional lines.
