Bell DTO Bust: 20 Members in Cuffs, Leader Still Free

In a major blow to the illicit drug trade, 20 members of the Michael Termaine Bell, Sr. led drug trafficking organization (DTO) have been arrested in Jackson County, Florida. The investigation, led by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), uncovered a complex network of distributors and users that had been supplying fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, and other illicit substances to the local community.

The investigation, which began in early 2023, identified the command-and-control structure of the Bell DTO and its role in distributing multiple kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, ALPHA-PIHP (“molly”), and fentanyl throughout the region. Wholesale quantities of these substances were sold to local retail distributors, who then sold them to citizens in Jackson County and surrounding areas, often to those struggling with addiction.

Throughout the investigation, dozens of individual organizational members were identified, many with multiple arrests for drug charges, weapon possession, and violence. Approximately 29 of those members were identified for arrest and indictment. The Bell DTO’s network was vast, with members operating in multiple counties, including Calhoun, Liberty, Washington, and Seminole.

As of Thursday, April 18, 2024, 20 members of the Bell DTO have been arrested as a result of this investigation. Seventeen organizational members will face state charges, and three will face federal indictments. During the course of the investigation, authorities seized over 3.7 kilograms of marijuana, more than 430 grams of ALPHA-PIHP, 1.4 kilograms of cocaine, 1,290 grams of methamphetamine, and 104 grams of fentanyl, along with several firearms.

Michael Termaine Bell, Sr., believed to be the leader of the DTO, remains at large. Investigators urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 482-9648 or Chipola CrimeStoppers at (850) 526-5000. Authorities vow to continue searching for Bell until he is in custody.

Sheriff Edenfield thanked the numerous agencies that assisted in the investigation, including the DEA, Florida National Guard Counter Drug Program, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Florida Highway Patrol, and local sheriff’s offices. “We will continue to fight against those who distribute drugs in our community and fight for the safety of our citizens,” he said.

The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected in the coming weeks and months. As authorities close in on the remaining members of the Bell DTO, residents of Jackson County and surrounding areas can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that their community is a little bit safer thanks to the tireless efforts of law enforcement.

With the Bell DTO’s leadership still on the run, it’s clear that this is far from over. Stay tuned to Grimy Times for further updates on this developing story.
