BURLINGTON, VT – Christopher Boisvert, 40, of Swanzey, New Hampshire, is headed to federal prison for more than six years after a brazen robbery spree across Vermont last August. Chief United States District Judge Christina Reiss handed down a 74-month sentence on September 30, 2025, followed by a three-year term of supervised release. The sentence stems from Boisvert’s guilty plea to one count of Bank Robbery, with stipulations to the commission of a second bank robbery and an attempted robbery.
The crime wave began around 2:00 p.m. on August 26, 2024, with a failed attempt to rob a marijuana dispensary. Boisvert didn’t let that deter him. He went on to successfully rob the TD Bank in Bellows Falls and the Brattleboro Savings & Loan in Brattleboro, netting a total of $7,500. Witnesses reported Boisvert was masked and appeared armed, threatening bank tellers and, chillingly, their families with violence to secure the cash.
Following the second robbery in Brattleboro, Boisvert attempted to evade capture, leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase through Vermont’s backroads. He ultimately abandoned his truck in a business parking lot. The deception didn’t end there. Upon returning to their home in New Hampshire, Boisvert and his accomplice, Meghan Cox, 40, of Laconia, New Hampshire, falsely reported the truck stolen to authorities, claiming they’d been hiking all afternoon – a pathetic attempt to cover their tracks.
This wasn’t Boisvert’s first rodeo. Court records reveal a history of violent crime, with multiple arrests and convictions for armed robberies stretching from 2012 through 2023. This pattern of escalating criminal behavior clearly influenced Judge Reiss’s sentencing decision. Cox, who pleaded guilty to her role in conspiring to rob the marijuana dispensary on June 12, 2025, is scheduled to be sentenced on October 20, 2025, and likely faces a significant prison term as well.
Acting United States Attorney Michael P. Drescher praised the extensive collaborative investigation, highlighting the efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Vermont State Police, Brattleboro Police Department, Bellows Falls Police Department, and multiple law enforcement agencies across New Hampshire and Massachusetts – including the Keene, Swanzey, Cheshire County Sheriff’s Department, New Hampshire State Police, Athol, and Winchendon Police Departments. The sheer number of agencies involved speaks to the scope and determination required to bring Boisvert to justice.
Assistant United States Attorneys Jonathan Ophardt and Dana Hill prosecuted the case. Christopher Boisvert was represented by Assistant Federal Public Defender Emily Kenyon, while Meghan Cox is represented by Richard C. Bothfeld, Esq. This case serves as a stark reminder that violent crime will not be tolerated and that those who threaten the safety of our communities will be held accountable. The Grimy Times will continue to follow Cox’s sentencing and any further developments in this case.
