Brothers Charged

⏱ 2 min read

Two brothers from Washington, DC, Asheile Foster, 22, and Darren Foster, 21, have been charged with shooting a US Park Police officer on March 23. The incident occurred at Queens Stroll Place SE and 51st Street SE, where the officer was conducting surveillance on Asheile Foster. The motive behind the shooting is not clear, but the brothers allegedly approached the officer’s unmarked Tesla Model Y and fired several shots, hitting the officer in the shoulder.

The officer, who was sitting in his vehicle, radioed for help after being shot and was quickly responded to by multiple law enforcement agencies. Investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Department of Forensic Sciences recovered 32 shell casings from the scene.

The Foster brothers were apprehended and made their first appearances in U.S. District Court, where they face multiple counts including Assault on a Federal Officer, Assault With Intent to Kill While Armed, and Possession of a Firearm During a Crime of Violence. A detention hearing is scheduled for March 26.

US Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro stated that those who target law enforcement officers will be held accountable, and the office will prosecute the brothers to the fullest extent of the law.
