Calvin ‘Serious’ Miller, Henry Dailey Charged in Sex Trafficking Ring

Calvin Anthony Miller, 34, known as “Serious,” and Henry Dailey, 36, were charged today in federal court in Kansas City, Mo., with conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, accused of running a brutal prostitution ring that exploited three vulnerable women through violence, threats, and drug dependency.

The criminal complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court in Kansas City, stems from Operation Cross Country X, a sweeping FBI-led crackdown on sex trafficking. Miller and Dailey remain in federal custody awaiting a detention hearing scheduled for Oct. 20, 2016, after being apprehended during a coordinated raid involving federal agents and the Independence, Mo., Police Department.

According to a sworn affidavit, a federal undercover agent responded to an online ad posted for Victim 1, featuring provocative photos and explicit service descriptions. When the agent arranged to meet her at a hotel, Victim 1 arrived and immediately identified Miller as her pimp, detailing a pattern of physical abuse and control. She led investigators to two other women being trafficked—Victim 2 and Victim 3.

Victim 2, described as “a very young baby-faced girl,” had just arrived in Kansas City on a bus with Dailey. When police located her at an Independence hotel, she begged to go home. Victim 3, found at the same location, wept and said, “If I tell you anything he will kill me,” expressing fear that even law enforcement couldn’t protect her from Miller’s reach.

Agents discovered Miller had rented multiple rooms at the hotel. When confronted on the third floor, he refused to comply, was taken to the ground, and cuffed. All three victims told authorities Miller and Dailey forced them into prostitution, threatened them with death, confiscated all earnings, and supplied drugs to maintain control. Victim 3 said Miller broke her hip in Overland Park, Kan., in June 2016—and after she was released from the hospital with six weeks of painkillers, Miller seized the supply after just one week.

Victim 3 reported working for Miller with a broken hip and no pain medication within two weeks of her injury. She showed agents a ledger documenting $13,000 in earnings paid to Miller in one month alone. She also revealed Miller transported her from St. Louis to Kansas City, Las Vegas, and as far as Washington state to sell sex. Despite repeated attempts, she said, she never found a way out—until federal agents intervened.
