Casino Bomb Threat Lands Man in Court

⏱ 3 min read

Joshua Mark Davis, 37, of Meridian, is staring down a decade in federal prison after admitting he called in a bomb threat to the Silver Star Hotel & Casino on the Choctaw Indian Reservation back in May 2022. The threat triggered a response from Choctaw Police, who quickly traced the call back to a phone inside the casino itself.

Davis pleaded guilty on March 19, 2026, to the charge of threatening to damage and destroy a building – a federal offense on tribal land. The feds hit him with an indictment from a grand jury just weeks after the initial incident.

Details of the threat itself haven’t been released, but authorities confirmed the lockdown and investigation caused significant disruption at the Pearl River Resort. It’s a serious charge, and U.S. Attorney Baxter Kruger’s office isn’t playing around.

Davis is set to be sentenced June 16, 2026. While the maximum is ten years, the judge will weigh federal sentencing guidelines and other factors before handing down the final term. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kevin J. Payne, Brian K. Burns, and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Kalleigh McCoy are handling the prosecution. The Choctaw Police Department did the initial legwork, earning a commendation from Kruger.
