A Texas man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for running a $1 million fentanyl trafficking operation.
According to court documents, Chatman, 35, of Dallas, was arrested in March 2023 following a multi-agency investigation into his alleged role in a massive fentanyl trafficking ring.
Prosecutors say Chatman was responsible for distributing hundreds of thousands of fake pills containing fentanyl to customers across the country, earning him and his co-conspirators over $1 million in profits.
During a hearing in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Chatman pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, a Schedule II controlled substance.
Judge Ronald Morgan sentenced Chatman to 10 years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Chatman’s co-conspirators have also been charged in connection with the operation.
The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas, with the assistance of the FBI and the Dallas Police Department. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected in the coming weeks.
