Chicago Man Gets 46 Months for Cocaine Trafficking

CHICAGO MAN SENTENCED TO 46 MONTHS FOR COCAINE TRAFFICKING

A 55-year-old Chicago man has been sentenced to 46 months in prison for his role in a large-scale cocaine trafficking operation that spanned from Chicago to Western Pennsylvania, federal authorities announced today.

According to information presented in court, Anthony Cook supplied over five kilograms of cocaine to two distributors based in the Western District of Pennsylvania after personally transporting the drugs from Chicago.

Cook was sentenced in federal court on June 11, 2024, by United States District Judge Christy Criswell Wiegand, who also ordered him to serve three years of supervised release following his prison term.

Assistant United States Attorney Jonathan D. Lusty prosecuted the case on behalf of the government, which was part of a larger Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation. OCDETF uses a multi-agency approach to disrupt and dismantle high-level drug traffickers and their networks.

United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Pennsylvania State Police, and Perryopolis Police Department for their work in investigating and prosecuting Cook.

The successful prosecution of Cook marks a significant blow to organized crime operations in Western Pennsylvania and highlights the collaborative efforts of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in combating drug trafficking.

As the investigation continues, authorities remain committed to dismantling the networks and individuals responsible for bringing illicit substances into the region.

While Cook’s sentence is a major victory, it also serves as a reminder that the fight against drug trafficking is ongoing and requires the continued cooperation and dedication of law enforcement agencies and the community at large.
