A 71-year-old phone sex operator, Debra Jean Schilling, has been charged with receiving, distributing, and possessing child sexual abuse material in Tampa, Florida. Schilling allegedly used her job to further her crimes, sending the disturbing content to clients during their conversations. The investigation, led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, uncovered the shocking offenses, which could land Schilling behind bars for up to 60 years if convicted.
Schilling’s employment as a phone sex operator gave her the platform to distribute the child sexual abuse material, which was also found on her iCloud account. The case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
The indictment against Schilling is a result of a thorough investigation, and she is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The case will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Abigail K. King, with U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe overseeing the proceedings.
Project Safe Childhood aims to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims. The initiative has been instrumental in bringing perpetrators to justice and providing support to those affected by these heinous crimes.
