Choctaw Member Kent Ali Dan Sentenced to 120 Months for Assault

PHILADELPHIA, MS – Kent Ali Dan, a 26-year-old member of the Choctaw tribe, has been handed down a 120-month prison sentence for his heinous assault on his wife.

The United States Attorney’s office for Mississippi made the announcement, noting that Dan’s brutal attack took place within the Bogue Chitto Community of the Choctaw Indian Reservation. The sentence was imposed by U.S. District Judge Henry T. Wingate.

“The United States Attorney’s office is committed to protecting our most vulnerable citizens from such monstrous acts,” said U.S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis. “We will continue to prosecute those who commit these horrendous crimes.”

The investigation into the case was a collaborative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Choctaw Police Department, with Criminal Chief Darren LaMarca overseeing the prosecution.

“We thank our law enforcement partners for their relentless pursuit of justice,” added U.S. Attorney Davis. “The hard work of these agencies has resulted in bringing this defendant to justice.”

Dan’s sentence is a stark reminder of the consequences faced by those who commit serious acts of violence, and it sends a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated in our communities.
