Cincinnati Carjacker Sammie Green Pleads Guilty

Covington, Ky. — In a dramatic turn of events, Cincinnati resident Sammie Green, 25, pleaded guilty on Friday to carjacking and discharging a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence before U.S. District Judge David L. Bunning.

According to the plea agreement, Green’s descent into violence began with a domestic dispute on August 15, 2019. Amidst the chaos, a pizza delivery driver arrived to witness the situation. His girlfriend and children fled, seeking police assistance. But it was Green who turned violent. As the driver called for help, Green opened fire with a handgun, subsequently pointing it at him and demanding his keys.

With the stolen vehicle, Green made his escape. He now faces up to 15 years in federal prison for the carjacking charge alone, not to mention the minimum of 10 years to life imprisonment for discharging a firearm during a violent crime. His sentencing is set for December 8, 2020.

Robert M. Duncan Jr., United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky; Shawn Morrow, Special Agent in Charge of ATF’s Louisville Field Division; and Boone County Sheriff Michael Helmig jointly announced Green’s guilty plea. The investigation was a collaborative effort between ATF and the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle Winslow and Tony Bracke representing the United States.

The carjacking case is part of the Department of Justice’s “Project Safe Neighborhoods” program, a national initiative to reduce violent crime through comprehensive public safety strategies. It also aligns with Project Guardian, the DOJ’s campaign against gun violence, ensuring federal resources target those posing the greatest threat to communities.
