Cleveland Man Accused in Streetsboro Bank Heist

STREETSBORO, OH – A Cleveland man is facing federal charges after allegedly robbing the First Merit Bank in Streetsboro on January 10, 2013. Ronnell A. Allen, 32, was indicted by a grand jury this week, accused of conspiring with an accomplice to steal over two thousand dollars from the local branch.

According to the indictment, Allen and Eddie Fletcher allegedly used force, violence, and intimidation during the heist, making off with approximately $2,083. The brazen daytime robbery sent ripples of fear through the quiet Streetsboro community, and the FBI, alongside the Streetsboro Police Department, quickly launched an investigation.

United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, Steven M. Dettelbach, announced the indictment, stating that Allen is charged with one count of bank robbery. While the indictment lays out the charges, it’s crucial to remember this is just the first step in the legal process.

Assistant U.S. Attorney M. Kendra Klump will be prosecuting the case. If convicted, Allen’s sentence will be determined by the Court, taking into account his prior criminal record (if any), his role in the offense, and the specifics of the violation. Legal experts warn that while the statutory maximum exists, most sentences fall below it.

“An indictment is only a charge,” a DOJ spokesperson stated bluntly. “Mr. Allen is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The government bears the full burden of proof.” Fletcher’s status is currently unknown, but authorities have indicated he is also a person of interest in the case.

Grimy Times will continue to follow this case as it unfolds, providing updates on the proceedings and any further developments. The Streetsboro community deserves justice, and we’ll be there to report it, no matter how ugly the details become. This case serves as a stark reminder that even in seemingly peaceful towns, crime can – and does – happen.
