Cleveland Man Kevin D. Wyrock Charged in Child Exploitation Case

A Cleveland man faces federal charges for attempting to lure a 12-year-old girl into sexual activity and producing explicit images of her. Kevin D. Wyrock, 49, is accused of using a cellphone with internet access to manipulate, coerce, and entice the minor in October 2015, according to a federal indictment.

Wyrock allegedly used online communication to persuade the girl to engage in sexual conduct punishable under federal law. Authorities say he not only sought to exploit her emotionally and physically but also orchestrated the creation of visual depictions of the abuse. These images were then transmitted across state lines using digital networks, violating interstate commerce laws.

The indictment further alleges Wyrock knowingly received multiple digital files containing child sexual abuse material. Those files, prosecutors say, were transported via the internet—touching foreign and interstate channels—and depicted real minors engaged in sexually explicit acts. Each transfer amplified the crime’s reach and severity under federal statutes.

The case was investigated by the FBI’s Cleveland and Miami field offices, along with the Juniper Police Department in Florida. Agents uncovered digital footprints linking Wyrock directly to the coercion, production, and receipt of illicit material involving the underage victim. Evidence gathered includes messaging logs, IP records, and file metadata.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael A. Sullivan is leading the prosecution. If convicted, Wyrock’s sentence will be determined by the court, weighing factors like criminal history, role in the offense, and the nature of the violations. While sentencing guidelines cap the maximum penalty, actual time served may vary but will remain within statutory limits.

An indictment is not a conviction. Kevin D. Wyrock is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The government bears the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial. The case remains active and under federal jurisdiction in the Northern District of Ohio.
