Crittenden Pleads Guilty to Assaulting Airline Agent

Gritty Times Exclusive: Christopher Stuart Crittenden, a 54-year-old resident of Frederick, Maryland, has entered a guilty plea after an alcohol-fueled rampage that left an airline gate agent unconscious at Washington Dulles International Airport.

Court documents reveal that on March 13, Crittenden, having consumed multiple alcoholic beverages, became incensed over delays and his seating assignment for his flight. The fury erupted when he shouted expletives at a gate agent. The situation escalated as the agent alerted the flight captain of Crittenden’s apparent inebriation and harassment.

The captain promptly arrived to address the matter, ultimately deciding that Crittenden would not be allowed on the aircraft. This decision did little to quell the man’s fury. In a fit of aggression, Crittenden assaulted the gate agent by punching him in the face with such force that it temporarily knocked him unconscious. Crittenden also attempted to attack another gate agent, who managed to evade his blows.

Set to be sentenced on October 9, Crittenden faces a maximum of 10 years in federal prison for his actions. However, actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties. The final sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge after considering U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Erik S. Siebert, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, along with Joshua P. Stone, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Washington Field Office’s Counterterrorism Division, made the announcement following the acceptance of Crittenden’s plea by U.S. District Judge Michael S. Nachmanoff.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Meredith Clement is handling the prosecution of this case. A copy of the press release can be found on the website of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, along with related court documents and information available on the District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia or PACER by searching Case No. 1:25-cr-167.
