Darren Dozier Charged With Producing Child Pornography

Darren Dozier a/k/a “Dante Dozier”, 54, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is back behind bars — and this time, he’s facing federal charges for producing child pornography. The indictment unsealed today levels three counts of production of child pornography, one count of transportation of child pornography, and one charge specific to offenses committed by a registered sex offender — all stemming from alleged crimes committed in 2015 against a child under the age of 13.

Dozier isn’t new to the criminal justice system. The defendant was previously convicted in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on rape and related charges, marking a long, troubling history. As a registered sex offender, his alleged return to predatory behavior has ignited fury among advocates and law enforcement alike. The new charges suggest a pattern of exploitation and a brazen violation of court-imposed restrictions meant to protect the public.

If convicted, Dozier faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, with a mandatory minimum of 35 years behind bars. The penalties also include a minimum 5-year term of supervised release — extendable to a lifetime — a $1.25 million fine, mandatory restitution to the victim, forfeiture of related assets, a $500 special assessment, and a $20,000 special victims assessment.

The case was probed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Philadelphia Police Department’s Special Victims Unit — agencies that have intensified efforts to track down offenders who exploit children, especially those already flagged by the system. Investigators say the evidence gathered includes digital material and witness testimony linking Dozier directly to the creation and movement of illicit images.

Assistant United States Attorney Priya De Souza is leading the prosecution, building a case that hinges on both forensic data and the defendant’s status as a known offender. The indictment underscores federal efforts to crack down on repeat sex offenders using interstate channels — including digital networks — to commit new crimes.

An indictment is not a conviction. Darren Dozier a/k/a “Dante Dozier” is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The case now moves toward arraignment, where he will enter a formal plea. For now, the streets of Philadelphia have one less predator roaming free — but the scars left behind won’t fade easily.
