DC Man Gets 2 Years for Pointing Gun at Cab Driver

A chilling incident in Washington, DC, left a taxi driver shaken, and now the perpetrator is facing the music. Erick Blanco-Cordova, 24, was sentenced to two years in prison for pointing a gun at a cab driver in November 2019.

Blanco-Cordova and his accomplice, Lesly Taracena, were picked up by the victim in Arlington, Virginia, and asked to be taken to Union Station in the nation’s capital. After the driver dropped them off, the duo refused to pay their fare and pulled a gun on the driver when he asked them to settle up.

The victim fled in fear, and police later found a .40 caliber handgun on Blanco-Cordova. Taracena was sentenced to five years in prison in June 2025 for her role in the crime.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro and Interim Chief Jeffery Carroll of the Metropolitan Police Department commended the work of investigators who brought the case to justice.
