A 32-year-old Denton man, Hernandez Escobedo, is behind bars after being charged with operating a multi-state fentanyl trafficking ring.
According to court documents, Hernandez Escobedo was arrested on
U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Chad E. Meacham, stated that Hernandez Escobedo’s operation was a ‘significant threat to public safety’ and that his arrest is a ‘major victory’ for law enforcement.
The indictment charges Hernandez Escobedo with one count of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, as well as multiple counts of distributing fentanyl. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
Hernandez Escobedo’s attorneys have not released a statement on his behalf. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys
