Dorchester Gunrunner Pleads Guilty to Trafficking Firearms

⏱ 2 min read

A Dorchester man made headlines in a Boston federal court yesterday, pleading guilty to trafficking firearms. Joshua Morency, 28, sold 17 guns to undercover agents in controlled purchases.

The majority of the firearms purchased from Morency were 3D-printed ‘ghost guns,’ a type of privately made firearm that’s notoriously difficult to track.

According to investigators, Morency began selling guns in August 2025 and was caught red-handed after months of surveillance.

The charges against Morency carry a hefty price tag: up to 5 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for dealing in firearms without a license, and up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for possessing a machinegun.

Morency’s sentencing is scheduled for June 25, 2026.
