EAU CLAIRE, WI – Nicholas J. Fisher, 41, is headed to federal prison for ten years after copping to a hefty charge: possession of over 1,300 grams – nearly three pounds – of methamphetamine with the clear intent to distribute it. Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson handed down the sentence yesterday, adding another five years of supervised release when Fisher finally gets out.

The bust went down May 3rd, 2025, when cops pulled Fisher over on a probation violation. A search of his ride turned up the massive stash of meth, along with all the tools of the trade – scales, packaging, the works. Fisher entered a guilty plea back in December 2025.

Judge Peterson acknowledged Fisher’s long rap sheet, stretching back years. But the judge also noted the driving force behind the crimes appeared to be addiction, and thankfully, it wasn’t a violent operation.

Eau Claire PD led the investigation, getting a boost from the DEA. Assistant U.S. Attorney Megan Stelljes handled the prosecution. This case is part of the DOJ’s broader “Operation Take Back America,” a nationwide push targeting drug cartels and violent crime – and funneling federal resources to the effort.
