Election Fraud Alert

Voter fraud and election abuses will be closely monitored by the US Attorney’s office on November 4, 2014, as part of the Justice Department’s nationwide Election Day Program. Assistant United States Attorneys Ann C. Rowland and Ava R. Dustin will lead the efforts in connection with this program.

The program aims to respond to complaints of voting rights or election fraud abuses and ensure that such complaints are directed to the appropriate authorities. Rowland and Dustin will be on duty in the district while the polls are open, and can be reached by the public at 216-622-3847 and 419-259-0767, respectively.

The local FBI field office will also be available to the public at 216-522-1400. Complaints about possible violations of the federal voting rights laws can be made directly to the Civil Rights Division’s Voting Section in Washington by phone at 1-800-253-3931 or (202) 307-2767, by fax at (202) 307-3961, by email to voting.section@usdoj.gov, or by complaint form at http://www.justice.gov/crt/complaint/votintake/index.php.

United States Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach announced the program, stating that the office is committed to ensuring the integrity of the electoral process. The program is part of a nationwide effort to prevent and prosecute election fraud and voting rights abuses.

The Justice Department’s Election Day Program has been in place for several years, and has been successful in preventing and prosecuting election-related crimes. The program relies on the cooperation of local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to monitor and respond to election-related complaints.

In addition to the program, the US Attorney’s office will also be working with local election officials to ensure that voters are aware of their rights and responsibilities. Voters who experience any problems or issues at the polls are encouraged to contact the US Attorney’s office or the local FBI field office.

The US Attorney’s office reminds voters that election fraud and voting rights abuses are serious crimes that can undermine the integrity of the electoral process. The office is committed to prosecuting these crimes to the fullest extent of the law, and encourages voters to report any suspicious activity or irregularities to the authorities.
