Trevor Clayton Morgan Charged with Child Sex Abuse, Porn Receipt

A federal grand jury in Sacramento has indicted Fairfield man Trevor Clayton Morgan, 32, on charges of sexual exploitation of a child and receipt of visual depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, announced United States Attorney Phillip A. Talbert.

Morgan made his initial court appearance on May 9, 2024, after his arrest on the indictment. If convicted, he faces a maximum statutory penalty of 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for sexual exploitation of a child. He also faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for Receipt of Visual Depiction of a Minor Engaging in Sexually Explicit Conduct.

According to court documents, Morgan persuaded a minor victim to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a video recording in April 2023. In December 2023, Morgan knowingly received one or more visual depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

The case was the result of a collaborative effort between multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office, United States Homeland Security Investigations, the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force / Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Assistant United States Attorney Christina McCall is prosecuting the case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

‘This case highlights the importance of law enforcement working together to protect our children,’ United States Attorney Talbert said. ‘We will continue to work tirelessly to bring those who harm children to justice.’

Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute those who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.usdoj.gov/psc.
