A Harrisburg man will spend nearly a decade behind bars for recklessly flaunting the law with a loaded gun hidden in his boot.
Shaun L. Graves, 33, was sentenced to 100 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, a charge that carries significant consequences.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Graves was arrested by Harrisburg police officers on October 16, 2014, and found to be in possession of a loaded Bersa .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol with an obliterated serial number in his boot.
As a convicted felon, Graves was prohibited from possessing firearms, and his actions put not only himself but also the community at risk.
The case was brought as part of the Violent Crime Reduction Partnership, a district-wide initiative to combat the spread of violent crime in the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
The Violent Crime Reduction Partnership is a collaborative effort between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, all working together to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who commit violent crimes.
The case was investigated by the Harrisburg Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms Enforcement and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kim Douglas Daniel.
