Felony Gunman Tangles in Bar Brawl

Felon Admits Illegally Possessing Gun Used in Bar Fight

A convicted felon on Monday admitted illegally possessing firearms twice, including when he used one in a bar fight in Overland, Missouri.

Kenneth Jordan, 63, of University City, Missouri, pleaded guilty to two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He admitted that on February 22, 2023, he got into a fight over a pool game at a bar in Overland, Missouri. Jordan struck a bar patron in the head with a revolver before threatening him with the gun.

Police identified Jordan as the attacker. During a search of his home on March 7, 2023, they found the revolver used in the assault as well as three shotguns. Jordan is a convicted felon and barred from possessing firearms.

The Overland Police Department and the St. Louis County Department investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nino Przulj is prosecuting the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. On May 26, 2021, the Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on these core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.

Jordan is scheduled to be sentenced on August 14. The Department of Justice’s efforts to combat gun violence and violent crime in our communities continue to yield results, and we will continue to work tirelessly to keep our neighborhoods safe.

The case against Jordan serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of gun violence and the importance of enforcing our nation’s laws to prevent felons from possessing firearms. We urge all residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

The Department of Justice remains committed to reducing violent crime and gun violence in our communities, and we will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to achieve this goal.
