Fort Dodge Meth Dealer Gets 10 Years

FORT DODGE, IOWA – Another small-time pusher is off the streets, but the poison keeps flowing. Christopher Lee Caquelin, 41, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, was sentenced to a decade behind bars for his role in a methamphetamine distribution ring that plagued the Fort Dodge area. The sentence, handed down by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand in Sioux City, offers a brief respite in a town drowning in addiction.

Caquelin pleaded guilty on March 26, 2025, to one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and one count of distribution of a controlled substance. The feds say Caquelin wasn’t just a user; he was actively involved in peddling the deadly drug, moving 50 grams or more of pure methamphetamine as part of an ongoing operation from January 1, 2023, to October 31, 2024. That’s enough to ruin a lot of lives.

The investigation, a joint effort by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Dodge Police Department, and Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, revealed a network of dealers catering to the demand in and around Fort Dodge. While one man is locked up, the source of the supply remains a critical question. How many more are out there, lining their pockets while families are torn apart?

Judge Strand didn’t mess around, sentencing Caquelin to 120 months’ imprisonment – ten years. But don’t expect an early release. There’s no parole in the federal system. After serving his time, Caquelin will face a five-year term of supervised release, a paper-thin promise of rehabilitation. He’s currently in the custody of the United States Marshal’s Service awaiting transport to a designated federal facility.

Assistant United States Attorneys Kevin C. Fletcher and Jack Lammers prosecuted the case, proving, at least in this instance, that there are consequences for pushing poison in Iowa. But the war on drugs is far from over. This conviction is a small victory in a seemingly endless battle.
