Frank George Owens Jr., 44, known as State Raised, of D’Iberville, Mississippi, is behind bars for life after being convicted in a brutal string of crimes tied to the Aryan Brotherhood of Mississippi (ABM). The verdict caps a sweeping federal crackdown on the white supremacist prison gang that’s long terrorized communities with murder, kidnapping, and drug trafficking across the state.
Owens was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Glen H. Davidson in the Northern District of Mississippi to life in prison for racketeering conspiracy, including multiple acts of violence. An additional 120 months was handed down for a separate count of attempted murder, sealing Owens’ fate with no chance of parole. The charges stem from a years-long pattern of criminal activity orchestrated from within and beyond prison walls.
The case exposed the ABM’s violent grip on Mississippi’s criminal underground, with Owens playing a key role in methamphetamine production and distribution, armed kidnappings, and orchestrating hits. Federal prosecutors detailed a network that operated like a paramilitary syndicate, using fear and intimidation to control territory, silence rivals, and profit from the drug trade.
Assistant Attorney General Leslie R. Caldwell of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division called the takedown a landmark in dismantling cross-jurisdictional gangs. “Criminal enterprises like the ABM hold communities hostage with fear and violence,” Caldwell said. “This case demonstrates our commitment to targeting the leadership and structure of these gangs.”
U.S. Attorney Felicia C. Adams hailed the unprecedented collaboration between federal, state, and local agencies, including the DEA, ATF, FBI, and Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. “We have effectively dismantled this violent organization,” Adams said. “The message is clear: those who fuel violence and fear will be held accountable.”
Law enforcement leaders echoed the sentiment. DEA’s Special Agent in Charge Stephen G. Azzam warned other gang members that predation on vulnerable communities will not go unanswered. “The sentencing of this gang member should be a warning,” Azzam said. “We will relentlessly pursue these criminals until they are off the streets.”
