Ft. Bragg Counselor Accused of Predatory Assault

Counselor at Ft. Bragg Accused of Predatory Assault

RALEIGH, N.C. – Harell Jamison, 47, formerly a substance abuse counselor at Womack Army Medical Center on Ft. Bragg, is facing serious federal charges after being arrested November 22, 2021. A federal grand jury indicted Jamison on November 2, 2021, alleging he engaged in predatory sexual misconduct against an individual under his care.

The indictment details a disturbing incident that allegedly occurred on July 14, 2021, on the grounds of Ft. Bragg Military Reservation. Jamison is accused of touching the individual in the genitalia, groin, and inner thigh without her permission. The alleged assault occurred while Jamison was employed by Womack Army Medical Center, placing him in a position of custodial authority over the victim.

This isn’t just a simple assault; the charges carry significant weight due to Jamison’s role as a counselor and the inherent power imbalance. He was entrusted with the care and well-being of vulnerable individuals struggling with substance use disorder, and allegedly used that position to commit a heinous act. The U.S. Attorney’s office is taking this matter extremely seriously.

If convicted of the Sexual Contact without Permission count, Jamison faces a maximum imprisonment term of not more than two years, a $250,000 fine, and a term of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. The more severe charge, Sexual Activity by a Custodian, carries a potential sentence of up to 88 months imprisonment, along with a $250,000 fine and supervised release.

Michael F. Easley, Jr., U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, announced the arrest. The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division is currently leading the investigation. Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and report on any further developments.

It is crucial to remember that an indictment is merely an accusation, and Harell Jamison is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. However, the allegations paint a disturbing picture of abuse of power and a betrayal of trust within the very system designed to help those in need. We will provide updates as they become available.
