Gore Youth Sentenced 87 Months for Voluntary Manslaughter

Gary Lynn Armer Jr., a 19-year-old resident of Gore, Oklahoma, has been handed a stiff sentence for his crimes.

Armed with a deadly firearm, Armer, 19, of Gore, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 87 months in prison for one count of Voluntary Manslaughter in Indian Country, and 87 months in prison for one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with the Intent to do Bodily Harm in Indian Country. The sentences are to be served concurrently.

The brutal crime went down on March 26, 2022, when Armer drove to a residence outside Gore, Oklahoma, and confronted an individual there. During the ensuing argument, Armer fatally shot the victim, leaving a trail of blood and chaos in his wake.

Armer then fired upon a second individual sitting in a nearby vehicle, causing serious bodily injury, before fleeing the scene. Armer was arrested a short time later by investigating officers, who located Armer at his residence.

The crimes occurred in Sequoyah County, which is within the boundaries of the Cherokee Nation Reservation and the Eastern District of Oklahoma. The Honorable John F. Heil, III, U.S. District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the sentencing hearing.

Assistant United States Attorney T. Cameron McEwen represented the United States. Armer will remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending transportation to a designated United States Bureau of Prisons facility to serve a non-paroleable sentence of incarceration.

According to the details of the case, Armer pleaded guilty to a two-count felony information on October 19, 2022. The investigation into the crime was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office.
