Guillermo Justo Indicted

A citizen of Mexico, Guillermo Justo, also known as Rolando Velez-Latorre and Guillermo Justo-Manuel, 41, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of violating federal immigration laws, according to Acting United States Attorney Soo C. Song.

The one-count indictment, returned on May 23, alleges that Justo, having previously been deported from the United States on August 7, 2015, was present in the Western District of Pennsylvania on May 2, 2017, without having applied for and received permission from the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security for re-application for admission into the United States.

Justo, a resident of Braddock, Pennsylvania, is accused of violating federal immigration laws, which provide for a maximum total sentence of not more than 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

The investigation leading to the indictment was conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Assistant United States Attorney Charles A. Eberle is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.

An indictment is an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. The case against Justo will proceed to trial, where the government will present its evidence and argue its case against the defendant.

The indictment of Guillermo Justo serves as a reminder of the importance of enforcing federal immigration laws and the consequences of violating them. The case is a significant one, as it highlights the need for individuals to comply with the law and respect the borders of the United States.

In recent years, there has been an increased focus on enforcing federal immigration laws, and this case is just one example of the efforts being made to hold individuals accountable for their actions. As the case against Justo moves forward, it will be important to watch for any developments and to see how the defendant responds to the charges against him.
