Guilty Verdict for Indianapolis Getaway Driver in Armed Robbery Spree

INDIANAPOLIS – A federal jury has found Robdarius Williams, 21, of Indianapolis, guilty of interference with commerce by robbery and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, following a one-and-a-half-day trial. Williams, the last of a trio to stand trial, joins Quintez Tucker and D’Maurah Bryant in being held accountable for eight armed robberies committed in the Indianapolis area between November 8, 2021, and December 3, 2021.

The crimes, which targeted cell phone retailers, resulted in the brandishing of firearms and the taking of cash, cell phones, and accessories. During the eighth and final robbery, Williams acted as the getaway driver, stole a license plate for the vehicle, and helped Tucker pick up an AR-style rifle used in the robbery.

The trio’s reign of terror included eight separate robberies, with Williams participating in only the final one. The businesses targeted included Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T locations throughout Indianapolis.

The FBI investigated this case, with assistance from the Fishers Police Department, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, and the Marion County Prosecutors Office. U.S District Court Judge Jane Magnus-Stinson presided over the trial and will impose sentences for all three men at a later date.

U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Myers thanked Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jeremy C. Fugate and Peter A. Blackett, who prosecuted this case. Myers stated, “This case is a prime example of the success of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.”

The Department of Justice reinvigorated PSN in 2017 as part of the Department’s renewed focus on targeting violent criminals. This case was part of the renewed effort to reduce violent crime and make communities safer.

Williams, Tucker, and Bryant now face sentencing for their crimes. The full extent of their punishment will be determined by Judge Magnus-Stinson at a later date.

The guilty verdict in this case serves as a reminder that those who engage in violent crime will be held accountable. The Grimy Times will continue to report on this case and provide updates on the sentencing of Williams, Tucker, and Bryant.
