Hancock Man Gets Probation for Assaulting FBI Agent

A Hancock man will spend the next two years on probation after a federal jury found him guilty of assaulting a federal officer during a warrant search.

Alan Howell Parrot, 69, was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Lance E. Walker to two years of probation and a $5,000 fine.

The assault occurred on June 22, 2023, when FBI special agents were executing a federal search warrant at Parrot’s residence in Hancock. While the agents were trying to enter the residence, Parrot attempted to close the door and became combative, kicking one agent in the abdomen and pushing her backwards, resulting in injuries to her arm and elbow.

The FBI investigated the case and presented evidence at Parrot’s one-day trial, which ended with a guilty verdict on November 29, 2023.

“Alan Parrot’s attack on an FBI special agent is yet another reminder of the danger law enforcement officers face on a daily basis – and the successful prosecution of Mr. Parrot should serve as a warning to all that if you assault and injure a law enforcement officer, the consequence is a felony conviction. Assaults on officers will be met with a swift response and will not be tolerated,” said Jodi Cohen, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Boston Division.

The case is a stark reminder of the risks law enforcement officers take every day to protect and serve the communities they serve.

In a statement, the FBI emphasized the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions when they harm or assault law enforcement officers.

Parrot’s sentence serves as a warning to anyone who would consider attacking or harming a law enforcement officer.

The Hancock man’s case will be closely watched by law enforcement and the community as a reminder of the consequences of violent actions.

With this sentence, the community can rest assured that those who harm our officers will be brought to justice.
