Harrisburg Man Cuffed in Federal Firearm Bust

Johnnie Zeigler, 37, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is staring down federal time after being indicted on federal firearms charges stemming from a街头 arrest that uncovered two loaded guns stashed in a canvas bag. The indictment, handed down by a federal grand jury, charges Zeigler with being a convicted felon in illegal possession of a Remington Arms 22 LR Rifle, a Harrington and Richardson .22 caliber revolver, and accompanying ammunition.

The bust went down in Harrisburg following a targeted operation under the Violent Crime Reduction Partnership (VCRP), a joint enforcement push aimed at dismantling gun violence across the Middle District. Zeigler, prohibited from owning firearms due to prior felony convictions, was apprehended in an enforcement sweep that saw local police and federal agents converge on the scene to recover the cache of weapons.

According to U.S. Attorney Bruce D. Brandler, the firearms were recovered during a search incident to arrest, with investigators seizing the weapons from the bag in plain view. No shots were fired during the arrest, but authorities emphasized the threat posed by repeat offenders walking the streets with illegal, ready-to-fire weapons.

The investigation was led by the Harrisburg Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF)’s Harrisburg Resident Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney William A. Behe is prosecuting the case, signaling federal intent to pursue maximum accountability under the VCRP’s mandate.

If convicted, Zeigler faces up to 10 years in federal prison, a term of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. The Federal Sentencing Guidelines will weigh the nature of the offense, Zeigler’s criminal history, and public safety concerns when determining the final sentence. The statutory maximum is not a guaranteed outcome, but a ceiling shaped by judicial discretion.

As with all federal cases, Zeigler is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The indictment, while serious, is an allegation. The government must now prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt. For now, Zeigler remains in custody as the Middle District continues its crackdown on illegal firearms under the VCRP banner.
