BEAUMONT, Texas – Christopher Dale Harrison, 33, of Port Neches, Texas, will spend the next 25 years of his life behind bars after being sentenced today for the heinous crime of producing and possessing child pornography. U.S. District Judge Thad Heartfield delivered the 300-month sentence in the Eastern District of Texas, a grim reminder of the predators lurking in plain sight.
Harrison pleaded guilty on November 19, 2013, to the charge of production of child pornography. The case unfolded after a federal search warrant was executed at his Port Neches home on April 18, 2013. Agents seized an external hard drive, a cell phone, and recovered a camera Harrison had recently pawned – all containing sickening evidence of his depravity.
Forensic examination of the seized devices revealed a disturbing pattern. Images of child pornography were found on both the hard drive and the camera, and investigators determined these images were taken inside Harrison’s residence. The evidence showed Harrison didn’t just passively possess these images; he actively coerced and directed a minor to participate in sexually explicit acts, turning his home into a site of unspeakable abuse.
U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced the sentence, emphasizing the gravity of the crime and the commitment of federal authorities to protect vulnerable children. “This sentence sends a clear message: those who exploit and abuse children will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” Bales stated. The investigation was a coordinated effort, involving Homeland Security Investigations (HSI-ICE), the Port Neches Police Department, the Beaumont Police Department, and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Englade, who presented the damning evidence in court. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the escalating epidemic of child sexual exploitation. The project focuses on identifying, rescuing, and prosecuting those who prey on children, utilizing a collaborative approach between federal, state, and local law enforcement.
Project Safe Childhood aims to dismantle the networks that facilitate child abuse and provide support to victims. Anyone with information regarding child exploitation is urged to report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-THE-LOST or visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov. Harrison’s conviction serves as a stark warning and a testament to the relentless pursuit of justice for those who cannot defend themselves.
