HARRISBURG – A Honduran national faces federal charges for sneaking back into the United States.
Doanin Reyes-Diaz, a 24-year-old from Honduras, was indicted by a federal grand jury in the Middle District of Pennsylvania for illegal reentry into the United States by a previously deported alien.
According to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam, the indictment alleges that Reyes-Diaz was previously removed from the United States on September 3, 2019, through Brownsville, Texas, and it is alleged that he was subsequently found in the United States without having first obtained legal permission to reenter the country.
The indictment also alleges that on March 16, 2024, Reyes-Diaz was encountered in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.
This case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations. Assistant United States Attorney Stephen Dukes is prosecuting the case.
The maximum penalty under federal law for this offense is two years of imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine. A sentence following a finding of guilt is imposed by the Judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
Indictments are only allegations. All persons charged are presumed to be innocent unless and until found guilty in court.
