Indy Trio’s Robbery Spree Ends with Williams Guilty Verdict

INDIANAPOLIS – The final piece of a brazen crime spree fell into place yesterday when a federal jury found Robdarius Williams, 21, of Indianapolis, guilty of interference with commerce by robbery and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. The conviction caps a case involving eight armed robberies of Indianapolis-area businesses in a single month, leaving employees and customers shaken and storefronts violated.

The Grimy Times has been following this case closely. Earlier this year, Quintez Tucker, 20, and D’Maurah Bryant, 21, both cut deals with federal prosecutors, pleading guilty to eight counts of robbery and eight counts of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. The pair systematically targeted cell phone retailers, turning a quick buck into federal felony charges.

Court documents paint a picture of calculated aggression. Between November 8, 2021, and December 3, 2021, Tucker and Bryant allegedly worked as a team, storming into stores with firearms drawn, terrorizing employees, and making off with cash, cell phones, and accessories. The robberies hit Verizon and T-Mobile locations across the city and even stretched into Fishers, Indiana. Williams joined the crew for the final heist, providing the getaway vehicle and allegedly assisting in procuring an AR-style rifle used during the AT&T robbery on South Emerson Avenue.

Here’s a rundown of the locations hit by the trio:

  • November 8, 2021: Verizon, Olio Rd., Fishers (Tucker & Bryant)
  • November 18, 2021: T-Mobile, Southport Rd. (Tucker & Bryant)
  • November 23, 2021: Verizon, Kessler Blvd. (Tucker & Bryant)
  • November 26, 2021: T-Mobile, E. 86th St. (Tucker & Bryant)
  • November 29, 2021: T-Mobile, Fox Rd. (Tucker & Bryant)
  • December 1, 2021: T-Mobile, E. Stop 11 Rd. (Tucker & Bryant)
  • December 1, 2021: T-Mobile, W. 38th St. (Tucker & Bryant)
  • December 3, 2021: AT&T, S. Emerson Ave. (Tucker & Williams)

The FBI took the lead on the investigation, with crucial support from the Fishers Police Department, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, and the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. U.S. District Court Judge Jane Magnus-Stinson oversaw the one-and-a-half-day trial and will determine the sentences for all three defendants at a future hearing. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jeremy C. Fugate and Peter A. Blackett successfully prosecuted the case, earning praise from U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Myers.

This case was presented as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a federal initiative aimed at reducing violent crime by fostering collaboration between law enforcement agencies and local communities. The Department of Justice reignited PSN in 2017, signaling a renewed commitment to tackling violent offenders and making neighborhoods safer. But for the victims of these robberies, the feeling of safety may take a long time to return. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case as sentencing dates are announced.
