Iowa Man Jailed 30 Years for Fargo Inn Robbery

FARGO – Eric Lee Webb, 31, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was sentenced to serve 30 years in prison for the robbery of a Fargo Inn.

On January 29, 2016, Webb appeared before Chief United States District Judge Ralph R. Erickson in Fargo for a change of plea hearing. Pursuant to a Rule 11(c)(1)(B) plea agreement, the defendant entered a guilty plea to a three-count information that was filed January 19, 2015.

The robbery occurred on June 4, 2015, when Webb entered the Howard Johnson Inn, 301 3rd Ave. N., Fargo, wielding a firearm at an employee and demanding money. The employees initially thought the gun was a fake, but Webb fired it into a wall near them. An employee provided Webb with $300 in cash.

He was later apprehended by officers and found to be in possession of a Raven, Model MP-25 pistol, with one round in the chamber, and one round in the magazine. A search of Webb’s person also revealed an open box of Sellier & Bellot brand ammunition, containing 26 live rounds, a cellphone, blue surgical gloves, and $355 in cash.

Webb is a convicted felon and was aware that he was prohibited from possessing firearms. He had previously been convicted of burglary and robbery in Linn County, Iowa.

The case was investigated by the Fargo Police Department and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation. U.S. Attorney Christopher C. Myers announced the sentencing.
