Jamestown, NY – Jacob Komenda, 24, stood before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara and admitted to conspiring to possess and distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine, a high-stakes drug charge carrying a mandatory five-year prison sentence and up to 40 years behind bars.
The guilty plea, handed down in Buffalo federal court, stems from two separate raids conducted by the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force at Komenda’s residences in 2019. On April 27, officers stormed his Partridge Street home, seizing methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, a 12-gauge shotgun, and a stun gun hidden in plain sight.
Just over four months later, on September 5, 2019, investigators struck again—this time at Komenda’s Fairview Avenue address—armed with a federal arrest warrant and another state search warrant. Inside his shorts pocket, they found $3,182 in cash, untaxed and unexplained, later confirmed as proceeds from his drug trade.
Inside the Fairview home, agents uncovered more methamphetamine and a trove of drug paraphernalia, reinforcing the case that Komenda operated a sustained distribution network from his residences. The evidence painted a clear picture of an entrenched dealer exploiting the opioid and stimulant crisis gripping Western New York.
The investigation was a joint operation led by the Jamestown Police Department under Acting Chief Timothy Jackson, the Drug Enforcement Administration (Special Agent-in-Charge Ray Donovan), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (Special Agent-in-Charge John B. Devito). Federal prosecutors say the collaboration dismantled a persistent local threat.
Komenda now faces sentencing on November 9, 2020, at 12:30 p.m. before Judge Arcara. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, prosecuting the case, emphasized the severity of the offense: ‘Five years is the floor—this is not a minor drug charge. It’s a federal conviction with life-altering consequences.’
