Jamestown Woman Sentenced to Prison for Meth Distribution
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Tracey Wynn, 42, of Jamestown, New York, is headed to federal prison after being sentenced to 24 months for her role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation. U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara handed down the sentence today, following Wynn’s conviction on charges of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute, and distributing, 500 grams or more of methamphetamine.
Federal prosecutors detailed how Wynn acted as a drug trafficking associate for Douglas Beardsley, receiving and distributing the potent drug between September 2018 and January 2019. The investigation revealed Wynn directly sold methamphetamine to a confidential source working with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) on four separate occasions. This wasn’t a small-time operation; Wynn was moving significant quantities of the drug.
The case against Wynn began to solidify with a raid on her Jamestown residence on August 7, 2017. Investigators uncovered a stash of methamphetamine, $347 in cash, and drug paraphernalia. Disturbingly, evidence also suggested children were living in the home, raising concerns about the dangerous environment created by Wynn’s criminal activity. While this initial search didn’t lead to immediate charges, it provided crucial evidence for the larger investigation.
Wynn’s troubles didn’t end there. On October 23, 2019, a routine traffic stop by Jamestown Police exposed further evidence of her drug involvement. A search of her vehicle revealed two digital scales, one of which tested positive for crystal methamphetamine. Arrested for driving with a suspended license and possession of paraphernalia, Wynn’s problems compounded when a search at the jail uncovered a bag of marijuana in her sweatshirt pocket and plastic bags containing methamphetamine on her person. She couldn’t shake the evidence.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, who led the prosecution, confirmed that Douglas Beardsley, Wynn’s supplier, has already been convicted and sentenced for his role in the conspiracy. This sentencing sends a clear message that those involved in trafficking dangerous drugs will be held accountable under federal law.
The successful prosecution was a collaborative effort between the Jamestown Police Department, led by Chief Timothy Jackson, the DEA’s New York Field Division under Special Agent-in-Charge Frank Tarentino, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Bryan Miller. The agencies worked together to dismantle this drug operation and remove a dangerous element from the streets of Jamestown.
