Kentucky Man Sentenced to 228 Months for Methamphetamine Trafficking

Bowling Green, KY – A federal judge has sentenced Scott Windell Harris, 45, of Allensville, Kentucky, to 228 months in prison for his role in a massive methamphetamine trafficking operation.

According to court documents, Harris made approximately nine trips to California, where he purchased 67 pounds of crystal meth with an estimated street value of $3 million. He then shipped the illicit substance to his home in Todd County, where it was sold to users in Western Kentucky.

The investigation into Harris’ activities began in February 2015, when a package containing 19.6 pounds of suspected methamphetamine was intercepted at the Louisville UPS hub. Forensic testing later revealed the substance to be a highly pure and potent form of methamphetamine, with a purity level exceeding 100%.

Law enforcement officials conducted a controlled delivery of the package, and observed Harris taking possession of it and placing it inside a black van. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded pistol and ammunition, as well as scales, baggies, and over $14,000 in cash.

Harris, who was an unlawful user of methamphetamine at the time, was prohibited from possessing a firearm. His prior guilty plea to the charges was entered on October 13, 2015, before U.S. District Judge Greg N. Stivers.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jo E. Lawless prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement/Special Investigations West, with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration Laboratory.

U.S. Attorney John E. Kuhn, Jr. praised the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies in bringing the case to a successful conclusion.
