Kevin Trittien Sentenced

A 35-year-old Eldora, Iowa, man has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity and distributing child pornography. Kevin Trittien received the sentence after pleading guilty to one count of attempted enticement of a minor and one count of distribution of child pornography.

Trittien admitted that, in 2012, he attempted to entice an undercover officer who was posing as a minor to meet for the purpose of unlawful sex with a minor. He also admitted that, in 2012, he distributed child pornography.

The sentence was handed down by United States District Court Chief Judge Linda R. Reade in Cedar Rapids. Trittien was sentenced to 168 months’ imprisonment and fined $8,000. A special assessment of $200 was imposed, and Trittien must also serve an eight-year term of supervised release.

In addition to his prison sentence, Trittien must comply with all sex offender registration and public notification requirements. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel and was investigated by the Garner Police Department, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, and the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
