Las Vegas Man Gets 12+ Years for Child Porn Receipt

Frankie Allen Peraza, 39, of Las Vegas, is headed to federal prison for 150 months after being convicted by a jury on one count of receipt of child pornography. The sentencing, handed down today by U.S. District Judge Andrew P. Gordon, marks the end of a years-long investigation into Peraza’s possession of more than 100 illicit photos and 110 videos depicting child sexual abuse.

According to court documents, the case began in March 2013 when a detective with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, operating undercover, identified a peer-to-peer file-sharing network broadcasting files with names indicative of child pornography. The digital trail led to an IP address registered to Peraza. During a subsequent interview, Peraza admitted to downloading and possessing the illegal material.

Forensic analysis of electronic devices seized from Peraza revealed the full extent of his crimes: 110 images and 110 videos of child pornography stored on personal devices. The evidence, presented during a four-day jury trial, was overwhelming. Peraza was found guilty last year and now faces the consequences of a conviction that carries lifelong repercussions.

In addition to his prison term, Peraza will be under federal supervision for the rest of his life. He is required to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA), a mandate that will follow him in every community he enters post-release.

The investigation was a joint effort between the FBI’s Las Vegas Division and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Elham Roohani and Alexandra Michael prosecuted the case on behalf of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada, with U.S. Attorney Dayle Elieson confirming the outcome today.

This case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation online. The program combines federal, state, and local resources to identify, arrest, and prosecute offenders—and to rescue victims. For more information, visit www.justice.gov/psc.
