Lewistown Man Jailed 102 Months for Grooming Minors for Sex

Gregory A. Wilson, a 51-year-old man from Lewistown, Pennsylvania, has landed in hot water after being sentenced to 102 months in federal prison for his crimes against a minor.

According to federal authorities, Wilson knowingly attempted to use a facility of interstate and foreign commerce to persuade, induce, entice, and coerce an individual who had not attained the age of 18 years to engage in prostitution and sexual activity for which any person can be charged under Pennsylvania criminal laws, specifically aggravated indecent assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and statutory sexual assault under Pennsylvania criminal laws.

Wilson was caught on November 8, 2023, as part of an ongoing investigation by the FBI, Pennsylvania State Police, Patton Township Police, and the Centre County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alisan V. Martin prosecuted the case.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.

Wilson was sentenced by Chief District Court Judge Matthew W. Brann to 102 months’ imprisonment to be followed by 10 years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $500 and a $5,100 special assessment.

Wilson’s crimes are a stark reminder of the dangers that lurk online and the importance of continued vigilance in keeping our children safe. As part of Project Safe Childhood, the Department of Justice will continue to work tirelessly to bring perpetrators like Wilson to justice.

The investigation and prosecution of this case involved the collaborative efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies and prosecutors. Their work is a testament to the power of partnership and the commitment to protecting our most vulnerable citizens.

This case serves as a warning to would-be predators that the Department of Justice will not hesitate to pursue justice, no matter how complex or challenging the case may be.
