Liberty Co. Man Sentenced for Child Enticement

BRUNSWICK, GA — Casey Austin Desmuke, 31, of Hinesville, Liberty County, has been sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison for his monstrous act of enticing a 12-year-old child into sexual activity.

Desmuke was handed down a sentence of 151 months by U.S. District Court Judge Lisa Godbey Wood after pleading guilty to one count of Coercion and Enticement, according to Bobby L. Christine, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia. The court also ordered Desmuke to pay $50,000 in restitution and to serve 10 years of supervised release following his prison term. Federal sentences do not carry parole.

“It is the depth of depravity that an adult would coerce a pre-teen child for his own sexual gratification,” Christine stated. “This predator will be locked away from society, protecting our community’s most vulnerable citizens for at least the next dozen years.”

The investigation into Desmuke’s heinous actions began in July 2019 when law enforcement determined that the defendant had communicated with a 12-year-old child and later transported the child to his home. Desmuke also faces pending state charges related to similar activity that occurred over a decade ago in Waco, Texas.

“We must diligently pursue any adult who would take advantage of a young child for sex,” Chris Hacker, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta, emphasized. “While no sentence can erase the trauma caused to a child, we take solace in knowing Desmuke will be unable to harm another child for many years.”

The case against Desmuke was investigated by the FBI, Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, and Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Marcela C. Mateo and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Katelyn Semales prosecuting on behalf of the United States.
