Two Buffalo brothers are facing federal time after being indicted for peddling cocaine on the streets of Buffalo’s Camp Street corridor. Mario McGee, 36, and Tramell McGee, 34, both of Buffalo, NY, were hit with separate indictments charging them with possession with intent to distribute and distribution of cocaine—a crime carrying a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1,000,000 fine.
The charges stem from drug deals allegedly conducted between November 2015 and May 2016, during which the siblings distributed cocaine as members of the Camp Street Gang, a local crew with deep roots in the neighborhood’s underground drug trade. Assistant U.S. Attorney Patricia Astorga, leading the prosecution, confirmed the gang’s role in flooding the area with narcotics, turning quiet blocks into high-risk zones for users and residents alike.
Acting U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced the indictments today, emphasizing the federal crackdown on organized street gangs fueling the city’s drug epidemic. The Camp Street Gang, long suspected of violent turf control and narcotics trafficking, is now under federal crosshairs following a sustained investigation by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.
Mario and Tramell McGee were arraigned this afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer. Both remain in custody as they await detention hearings—Mario’s set for February 3, 2017, at 11:30 a.m., and Tramell’s scheduled for February 6, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. Prosecutors are expected to argue for continued detention, citing flight risk and ongoing public danger.
The case was built through coordinated surveillance, informants, and field operations under the direction of FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Adam S. Cohen. The Safe Streets Task Force, which combines federal, state, and local law enforcement, has made dismantling gang networks a top priority in Western New York, where drug-related violence continues to spike.
With convictions, the McGee brothers could vanish behind bars for decades. But their indictment is just one salvo in a broader war against entrenched street gangs using Buffalo’s neglected corners to traffic poison. Federal prosecutors vow more charges will follow as the investigation widens.
