Mason City Man Tristan Walker Snared in 18.5-Year Methamphetamine Sting

A man from Mason City, Iowa, is facing the harsh reality of a lengthy prison term after being caught in a methamphetamine conspiracy.

Tristan Walker, a 44-year-old man originally from Alabama, was sentenced to 18.5 years in federal prison on May 6, 2024, after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine on January 2, 2024.

The evidence against Walker revealed a significant amount of involvement in the distribution of 195 grams of pure ‘ice’ methamphetamine between October 2022 and December 2022. This is not the first time Walker has been involved in illicit activities, as his extensive criminal history includes convictions for attempted first degree murder (two counts), domestic battery, domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury, assault causing bodily injury, accessory after the fact, burglary, and going armed with intent.

Walker’s lengthy sentence was handed down by United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand in Sioux City, Iowa, on May 6, 2024. The sentence consists of 222 months in prison, followed by a 5-year term of supervised release. It’s worth noting that there is no parole in the federal system.

Walker is currently being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison to begin serving his sentence. The case was investigated by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s office and Iowa Department of Public Safety – Division of Narcotics, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ron Timmons.
