Meth Dealer Sentenced to 10 Years in Chickasaw County

⏱ 3 min read

A 34-year-old Woodland man, Anthony Russell, has landed a 10-year prison sentence for peddling methamphetamine in Chickasaw County, Mississippi. Russell was caught on May 13, 2024, with over 50 grams of the potent stimulant.

According to officials, Russell’s arrest was the result of a joint effort between federal agents and local law enforcement. The drugs were just one part of a larger stash of narcotics seized from the suspect.

U.S. Attorney Scott Leary called out the scourge of methamphetamine, saying it’s a threat to families and communities across the nation. ‘It causes brain damage and ruins lives and families,’ Leary warned.

The DEA’s Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Anessa Daniels-McCaw, echoed Leary’s sentiments, stating that there’s no safe haven for traffickers in Chickasaw County. The agency remains committed to taking down those who peddle poison.

Russell will serve 120 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. He was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals immediately following sentencing.
