A major methamphetamine conspiracy in Bowling Green, Kentucky, has been dismantled with the sentencing of its final defendant, Shantaja S. Hutchins. On March 17, 2026, Hutchins, 49, was sentenced to 18.5 years in federal prison for her role in the conspiracy, which involved the transportation of 77 pounds of methamphetamine from Atlanta, GA to Bowling Green, KY. The methamphetamine was seized following a traffic stop on January 4, 2023, and Hutchins was found to be following the vehicle in a separate car.
The conspiracy, which also involved Leroy B. Riggsbee, 40, and four other defendants, was centered in Bowling Green and involved the distribution of large quantities of methamphetamine. Hutchins and Riggsbee were the lead defendants in the case, and their sentences reflect the severity of their crimes.
The other defendants in the case were previously sentenced for their roles in the conspiracy. Jeffery W. Glass, 53, was sentenced to 4.75 years in federal prison, while Tyler P. Houchens, 31, received a 10-year sentence. Brandon T. Trent, 27, and Joseph A. Raby, 43, were also sentenced for their involvement in the conspiracy.
