Meth Ring Busted: Five Face Federal Drug Charges

TULSA, OK – Federal authorities have unsealed indictments against five individuals accused of running a large-scale methamphetamine and cocaine distribution network in Oklahoma. The bust, announced by U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson, represents a significant blow to drug trafficking operations in the region.

Juan Jose Huerta, 57, a Mexican National; Miguel Angel Huerta, 27, of Broken Arrow; Carlos Pena-Villalba, 53, a Mexican National; Jose Fernando Flores Carillo, 24, a Mexican National; and Roberto Carlos Valle, 45, a Mexican National, are all facing a litany of federal charges. The indictment alleges a conspiracy to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine, along with maintaining a residence for the purpose of drug distribution. Juan Huerta faces the most severe charges, including possession of more than 500 grams of methamphetamine and cocaine with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

The charges don’t stop there. Miguel Huerta is accused of knowingly possessing cocaine with intent to distribute, also while possessing a firearm. Pena-Villalba is alleged to have possessed over 500 grams of methamphetamine and a firearm related to drug trafficking. Carillo and Valle are both charged with possessing cocaine and methamphetamine with intent to distribute, again with the added charge of possessing a firearm during the commission of those crimes. The DEA, Tulsa Police Department, and Broken Arrow Police Department jointly investigated the case.

Beyond the drug conspiracy, several other individuals were also indicted in May by the Federal Grand Jury. Antonio Deshawn Baker, 18, of Tulsa and a member of the Cherokee Nation, is charged with being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition. Authorities allege Baker knowingly possessed a firearm despite a prior felony conviction. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office are handling the investigation.

Mark Verron Callshim, Jr., 37, of Tulsa and a member of the Ponca Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma, is facing charges of Robbery in Indian Country, and carrying, using, and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. He allegedly took something of value by force and intimidation while armed. The FBI and Tulsa Police Department are leading that investigation. A separate indictment targets Ernesto Castro-Sierra, 43, a Mexican national, charged with Unlawful Reentry of a Removed Alien, after being removed from the U.S. in 2018 near Laredo, Texas. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is investigating.

Finally, Leonel Limberg Hernandez, 33, a Mexican national, is charged with Attempted Coercion and Enticement of a Minor, accused of attempting to coerce a person he believed to be under the age of 18 into sexual activity. The Rogers County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mandy M. Mackenzie, Mike Flesher, Alicia Hockenbury, Melissa Weems, and Dav are prosecuting the cases. Remember, an indictment is simply an accusation; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
